Mast Cells
Everyone has mast cells throughout their body. They are our body’s 1st responders to potential threats and dangers, regulating our body’s inflammation and immune responses, and so much more.
When a person comes into contact with a chemical or substance to which they may react, their mast cells become activated and degranulate: they crumble. The activated (crumbling) mast cells pump histamine and other chemicals (called mediators) into the body. These mediators cause the person to exhibit the symptoms we typically assocaite with an allergic reaction–sneezing, watery eeys, rashes, hives, itching, tonue swelling, difficulty breathing, runny nose, skin flushing, brainfog, and more.
